Promesse Jauhar

Promesse Jauhar — known affectionately to all as Kake — belonged to the Mother from the very day of his birth. When the news of the child was brought to Her, it was the Mother Herself who gave him his name: . That name he carried, and fulfilled, through every step of his life.

Brought to the Ashram at Pondicherry at the age of two, Promesse grew up at the Mother’s feet. He was a son of Shri Surendra Nath Jauhar ‘Faquir’ — lovingly known as ‘Chacha ji’ — the founder of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Delhi Branch. A bright student, a beloved Group Captain and a devoted teacher of the Free Progress system, he lived with boundless energy and an infectious joy, carrying the Mother’s light into all that he touched.

This website is drawn from the book Promesse Jauhar: The Mother’s Sun Child, lovingly compiled by his sister, Tara Jauhar — known to one and all as Tara Didi — and released in his loving memory on 5 July 2026, on the joyous occasion of her ninetieth birthday. It is offered here in remembrance of a radiant soul whose love, faith and dedication continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
